According to the Vietnamese veterinary authorities, there are eight new outbreaks of highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) in the country.

The World Organisation for Animal Health received follow-up report no. 48 yesterday (Mar 30).

A total of 14943 birds were found susceptible to the disease, there were 8342 cases and 5147 deaths were recorded. The remaining 6140 birds were destroyed.

Introduction of new live animals, illegal movement of animals and fomites from humans, vehicles and feed have been determined as the main causes of the outbreak.
