Lohmann introduce salmonella reduction vaccine
Lohmann Animal Health introduces a vaccine which aids in reducing salmonella in the organs of young growing chickens, AviPro® MEGAN®VAC 1.
According to the animal health company, the vaccine helps in the reduction of salmonella typhimurium, salmonella enteritidis and salmonella heidelberg in the organs of young growing chickens and as an aid in the reduction of S.enteritidis colonization of the crop and digestive tract, including the ceca.
The vaccine is a modified live salmonella typhimurium vaccine administered to young poultry to stimulate the bird's natural defence systems to prevent salmonella colonisation of internal organs and transmission of salmonella to offspring.
Vaccination takes place in the hatchery on the day of hatch and at 2-weeks of age for broilers, layers and breeders.
