Argentina's grain exports to be down 3 percent on-year

 

 

Argentina is expected to export 73.1 million tonnes of grain and derivative products from the 2007-08 crop year, down 3 percent from the 76 million tonnes shipped last season, the Rosario Grain Exchange said in its weekly newsletter Monday (March 31, 2007).

 

Argentina will produce about 47 million tonnes of soy, 21 million tonnes of corn, 15 million tonnes of wheat, 4.3 million tonnes of sunseeds and 4 million tonnes of sorghum this season, according to the Exchange.

 

Soy exports from the 2007-08 crop are forecast at 10 million tonnes, while Argentina will ship 28.7 million tonnes of soymeal and 5.8 million tonnes of soyoil, the Exchange said. Soyoil-based biodiesel exports are forecast at 700,000 tonnes.

 

Corn exports are expected to reach about 13 million tonnes, wheat exports 9 million tonnes, wheat flour exports 700,000 tonnes and sunseed oil exports 1.3 million tonnes.
