Brazil's 2004-05 soy view lowered to 54.79 million tonnes

Brazilian soybean production will total 54.79 million tonnes in the weather-affected 2004-05 season (October- September), the Brazilian Census Bureau reported Thursday.

The estimate was cut sharply from the 63.15 million tonnes predicted in the last report but still remains higher than the 51 million to 53 million tonnes forecast by local analysts in recent weeks.

Output is expected to rise from 49.22 million tonnes last season.

The forecast for the grains, cereals and oilseeds crop was also lowered to 120.9 million tonnes from 134.5 million tonnes in a previous report.
