Cautious buying mood weighs on China methionine market

Prices of methionine continued to fall during the week ending March 30.

China’s methionine prices weakened further over the week in review. Even though egg and broiler prices firmed up of late with Qingming Festival approaching, feed millers continued to withhold buying as the quantity of poultry remained at low levels.

Price quotes for locally produced methionine were at RMB31.50/kg.

Methionine prices are seen stable to lower in the coming period. Producers will be more cautious with price cuts amid reduced profitability.
