Russia lifts ban from 10 more US pork suppliers
The Russian Federal Service for Veterinary and Plant Control (Rosselkhoznadzor) has lifted its import ban from 10 more US pork plants, and more could follow.
The ban was lifted from two US companies last week, leaving 13 names on the list of banned pork suppliers, according to reports.
Earlier, pork imported from the US was banned because it had been found to contain antibiotics that violated Russian food safety rules.
The two countries' veterinary services have come to an agreement that US would provide a list of pork suppliers prepared to comply with Russian regulations. There are currently 18 companies on the list including Cargill, Smithfield Foods, Tyson Foods, Seaboard Corp, and Triumph Foods.
