Ukraine bans Russian pork imports
Ukraine has banned the import of pork from Russia's Southern, Central, and Volga federal districts, according to Ukraine's state committee for veterinary medicine.
The ban was imposed on March 30, 2010 after the International Epizootic Bureau reported an outbreak of hog cholera in Russia's Volgograd, Saratov and Voronezh regions.
Swine fever, or hog cholera, is a highly contagious disease of pigs and wild boar.
