Bulgaria maintains subsidies to quality milk producers

Bulgarian State Fund Agriculture would subsidise its farmers who produce and sell top quality cow, buffalo and sheep milk with nine million Bulgarian levs (4.6 million euros), beginning on April 1.

The subsidies would mainly be used to help farmers who breed over 200 cows, and also milk producers in the underdeveloped and scarcely populated mountain regions.

The same scheme by the State Fund in 2004 aided 7,461 milk producers who sold 151.9 million litres of high quality milk.
