Aviagen's Arbor Acres holds four-day service team meeting in South Africa

Aviagen's Arbor Acres customer support teams from the Middle East and Africa were recently invited to celebrate "10 years of shared success" at Cape Town, South Africa.
International colleagues were present to conduct presentations, with guest speakers invited to bring their expertise to the programme.
Arbor Acres has a long history in knowledge transfer, being responsible for starting the original poultry production management school over 60 years ago. The deeply held belief that 'knowledge has no value unless you share it' was very evident in the four-day meeting.
The comprehensive agenda encompassed a range of subjects relating to Arbor Acres. Topics included a review of Arbor Acres in its current state and requirements to keep the brand at the forefront of industry. In addition, subjects pertaining to genetic progress are also dealt with.
The day ended with a market research analysis on the world meat market, avian influenza, and compartmentalisation and maintenance of chick quality.
On the second day, international updates on Arbor Acres were delivered by three commercial managers, along with an introduction of Aviagen South Africa and an analysis of the Middle Eastern and African meat markets. The programme addressed modern LED lighting for poultry houses, a new trend in the industry, and concluded with the marketing strategy for Arbor Acres.
Three key country presentations - Egypt, Saudi Arabia and Nigeria - were delivered prior to a management review entitled "Maintaining persistency of production". The sessions were followed by topics on Algeria and South Africa, covering key market performance parameters and trends for the future.
The rest of the meeting focus addressed the topic of "Feeding the modern Arbor Acres broiler". It concluded with an interactive marketing workshop engaging attendees in the challenge of advising Arbor Acres on future successes.
The final day involved bird management and related subjects including benchmarking, male management, best practices for brooding, egg handling from farm to setter, bio-security, and feeding the modern Arbor Acres broiler.
The conclusion of the meeting incorporated an overall event summary to promote the value of the sessions.
"A meeting like this one has a number of important objectives and with the help of the feedback and interaction from the customers it has managed to progress and attract them back for the tenth year," said Puzant Dakessian, international commercial manager of Arbor Acres (Middle East and Africa). "In the end, their opinion of the meeting and exchanges with each other will always be the main motivation for future events. We will spare no effort to bring novelty, creativity and a commitment to keep pace with future global industry developments in our upcoming events."
