Poland's total grain production will reach as much as 28 million tonnes in 2010 and the area sown with grains is estimated at 8.2 million hectares.
Data from the main statistics office show Polish grain production in 2009 stood at 29.8 million tonnes and the area sown with grains was 8.6 million hectares.
"Assuming the grains weathered winter well, and so far everything points in that direction, it is likely to keep the productivity at the level of last year, or slightly below," Maciej Tomaszewicz, the head of the Polish Grain Chamber said.
The area sown with grains contracted to 8.2 million hectares as last year's low grain prices made producers more cautious, Tomaszewicz added.
The chamber sees Polish wheat production at about 9.3 million tonnes, rye at 3.3 million tonnes, barley at 3.5 million tonnes, triticale at 4.8 million tonnes, oats at 1.5 million tonnes, and mixtures at 3.5 million tonnes.
The average yield is seen at 3.3-3.4 tonnes per hectare.
The producers' group estimates corn output will come in at about 1.8 million tonnes, while rapeseed output should not exceed last year's figure of 2.5 million tonnes.
