US wheat shows slight improvement
The most recent government crop report states that the winter wheat in Kansas is showing gradual improvement in the past week.
However, Kansas Agricultural Statistics Service also said that the crop is still in need of spring moisture.
The agency updated its condition report to show that 13% of the wheat is in extremely poor condition and 22% in poor condition. Approximately 34% was in fair condition with 27% rated as good and 4 % as excellent.
Warm temperatures last week aided the crop in rising from winter dormancy.
The agency approximates that 84% of the wheat shows no sign of freeze damage. Approximately 81% shows no wind damage.
