US state protests against raw milk sales

15 health and agriculture groups have come together to form the Wisconsin Safe Milk Coalition to oppose a bill that would permit dairy producers to sell raw milk, according to the media.

The bill, circulated by Senate Republican, Glenn Grothman, would allow the sale of raw milk to consumers on dairy farm property. The coalition has asked lawmakers not to support the bill. Former Governor, Jim Doyle, vetoed a similar bill last year, but hinted he would sign this year's version if it passes both houses.

Members of the coalition groups are concerned with the impact on the state's dairy industry if someone becomes sick from drinking unpasteurised dairy products.
