Ukraine's January grain import lowers to 5,470 tonnes
Ukrainian grain imports for January 2011 has reduced by 14.1% or 900 tonnes, compared with January 2010, to 5,470 tonnes for US$3.50 million.
In January, the companies mainly imported corn (3,380 tonnes or 61.8% of the total grain imports).
Grain imports went down by 42.1% or 3,970 tonnes in January 2011 against December 2010.
Earlier, in December 2010, grain imports rose by 40.5% or 2,720 tonnes, compared with December 2009, to 9,440 tonnes for US$16.05 million.
In 2010, compared with 2009, grain imports increased by 9.2% or 8,810 tonnes and made up 104,890 tonnes for US$143.69 million.
