British Columbia group seeks standing for salmon inquiry

The British Columbia Salmon Farmers Association (BCSFA) is seeking standing for the Canadian government's inquiry into the reasons for the decline of sockeye salmon in the Fraser River.

The government announced the inquiry in November 2009 and appointed the Honourable Bruce Cohen, a judge of the Supreme Court of British Columbia, to act as Commissioner.

The BCSFA is seeking standing as a part of the industry's ongoing commitment to the environment of British Columbia's shores and the sustainability of its coastal communities.

The BCSFA's member organisations include more than 60 companies directly and indirectly involved in the provinces' salmon farming industry.
