EU 2010 soft wheat output seen up 1.8%
 
 
EU 2010 soft wheat production is estimated at 133.1 million tonnes, up 1.8% on the year, Comite du Commerce des Cereales, or Coceral, said Friday (March 26).
 
Coceral pegs total EU 2010 grain production at 287 million tonnes, down from 2009 production of 293.4 million tonnes.
 
Meanwhile, the EU granted export licenses for 307,000 tonnes of soft wheat for the week ended March 23, EU data showed.
 
This takes EU soft wheat exports to 13 million tonnes, 38 weeks into the 2009-10 marketing year, down from 15.9 million tonnes over the same period the previous year.
 
Total grain exports for the first 38 weeks of the marketing year were 16.4 million tonnes, down sharply from 22.8 million tonnes over the same period the previous year.
 
Total EU grain imports increased 90,000 tonnes on the week to 6.4 million tonnes, down from 8.7 million tonnes in the first 38 weeks of the previous marketing year.
