South Korea provides aid to neighbouring North against FMD

South Korea Wednesday sent about 280 million won (about US$297,200) worth of medicine and equipment to North Korea to aid the neighbouring country in its efforts against a foot-and-mouth disease (FMD) outbreak, said the unification ministry.

Since FMD hit a farm near Pyongyang in January, North Korean authorities have culled hundreds of cattle and thousands of pigs to stem the disease's spread.
