Brazil's poultry output up 10 percent in February
Brazilian poultry farms raised some 390.8 million broiler chickens for slaughter in February 2007, up 10 percent on-year, according to figures from Brazil's Association of Poultry Producers (Apinco).
However, the figure was 7 percent below January's figures. The decline was mainly attributed to the lower number of working days in Brazil in February.
Brazil's broiler output reached a record high of 420.5 million in January.
Output for the first two months of 2007, totaled 811.3 million, a 6.5 percent increase on-year.
The country is expected to raise an estimated 4.9 billion broilers for the full-year, compared to last year's figure of about 4.6 billion.
