Slovenia suspects mad cow infection in seven-year-old animal

A seven-year-old cow owned by Slovenia's Celjske Mesnine food producer is suspected of being infected with mad cow disease, or BSE, following a preliminary test.

In response, veterinarian authorities have taken safety precautions including tests at the farm where the cow originated from and banning beef trade.

So far, seven BSE cases have been confirmed in Slovenia.
