New opportunities for US pork exports to Brazil
The steep rise in pork exports has led Brazil to become the number one exporter of pork and beef. However, the US Meat Export Federation (USMEF) believes that opportunities still remain for the export of pork to Brazil.
To succeed, US companies need to have a good knowledge and insight of the Brazilian market and its key demands. However, seasonal supplies leading to irregular demand as well as fluctuating import prices throughout the year are some of the challenges companies face.
The success of the Brazilian pork industry has been attributed to low cost leadership strategy and a customer-driven approach to fabrication and packaging. Genetic improvement and vertical integration have also been key factors in the expansion of the industry.
