250,000 tonnes of wheat to be exported by Bulgaria
Bulgaria is able to export 250,000 tonnes of wheat and 100,000 tonnes of maize before the new harvest.
Bulgarian farmers reaped 3.9 million tonnes of wheat in 2004, of which 791,000 tonnes have been exported so far.
The country needs about 2.5 million tonnes of wheat to cover domestic consumption, which leaves around one million tonnes free for exports.
