China's 2012 cotton area may drop 9.1%
The farmers in China will possibly lessen its cotton land by 9.1% this year, CNCotton, an industry website owned by China National Cotton Reserves Corp., said Monday (Mar 26).
The total area will likely fall to 4.81 million hectares, it said in its latest survey report.
In November CNCotton estimated 2012 acreage at 4.86 million hectares, down 8.2%.
China is the world's largest cotton producer, consumer and importer.
