UK retail pork prices receive a lift

Tesco and Asda, UK's largest retailers have pushed up pork prices.

The British National Pig Association has announced the price increases ranging from 5 to 10 percent per kilogram last month.

After complaints that pork was frequently used in discount offers as an attraction incentive, the retail giants have lessened such offers.

Only fresh pork is valid for the higher prices.

The public is expected to accept the increases after knowing the harsh situations UK pig producers are in due to the recent protest in London. This move follows the 10 percent cut in pig levy.
