Western China's largest meat processing plant planned in Chongqing
China's Chongqing Dejia Food Products has announced a slaughtering plant in Chongqing's Hechuan, expected to be the largest in western China with capability for further processing of up to 1 million hogs yearly.
Dejia would utilise the sales channels of China National Cereals, Oils & Foodstuffs Import & Export Corp (COFCO Group) to access the EU, US and South-east Asian markets.
The new plant's slaughter technology and automated meat cutting line would be one of the most advanced deployed in the nation. These would enable the company to produce 270,000 tonnes of canned meat worth RMB 1.5 billion (US$194 million), made in accordance to export safety standards.
