Market analysis

Producers stood firm on prices amid low inventory pressure. Nonetheless, as end-users held back purchases, lysine market lacked momentum to move higher.

Meanwhile, one global producer's plant in southeast Asia has halted operation due to technical problems, which is expected to take more than a month to resolve. The producer is likely to increase its production in Shandong to maintain output.

In Europe, price quotes for Q2 deliveries were unchanged in the range of EUR1.30-1.36/kg.

Market forecast

Lysine demand will stay flat in the coming week as soymeal market remains soft while hog prices consolidate lower. Unless producers cut output, lysine market is expected to stay weak during early Q2 as buyers tread prudently.
