US beef, poultry, pork prices fluctuate in February
In February, US beef and veal retail prices rose 0.4% from January and up 3.4% from last February, while poultry prices in February actually declined 0.2% from January but were up 5% from last February.
This is according to USDA's Food Price Indexes update issued on Monday (Mar 25).
Retail pork prices rose 0.8% from January but were down 1.5% from last February.
USDA reported February prices of all food away from home declined by 0.1% from January, but they were up 2.3% from last February.
USDA continues to predict that during 2013 prices for food away from home will rise from 2.5-3.5% while prices for pork, beef and poultry purchased to eat at home will rise 3-4%.
