Major storm to force temporary closure of three US beef plants

At least three US beef plants will be closed Friday due to a major storm that is expected to produce blizzard conditions and eight to 18 inches of snow in western Kansas, western Oklahoma, and the Texas panhandle.

Winter storm warnings for much of that area have been issued through Saturday (Mar 21), said the National Weather Service.

Tyson Foods' beef plants at Finney County, Kansas, and in Amarillo, Texas, will be closed. JBS-Swift's beef plant in Cactus, Texas, will also be closed.

The snow is expected to end on Saturday (Mar 28), the National Weather Service said.
