China Inner Mongolia identifies FMD outbreak; under control
An outbreak of foot-and-mouth disease was identified a week ago in China's northern Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region and is now under control, the Ministry of Agriculture said late Thursday (March 26).
The disease was detected in a beef animal in the region March 17 and was confirmed to be Asian FMD I three days later, the ministry said in a statement published on its Web site.
The government has killed 1,121 head of cattle and other animals in the area to prevent the spread of the disease, it said.
