Cargill establishes training programme with China's food safety agency
Cargill Inc. said it has agreed to establish a joint international food safety management-training programme with China's food safety agency.
Under the programme, China's General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine will select 20 to 25 government officials, food safety scientists and food company managers to be trained to expand their expertise and knowledge in food safety management. The programme will begin later this year.
Cargill will provide financial support and lend its expertise to design and implement the program.
Cargill operates 34 wholly owned companies and joint ventures within 20 provinces and municipalities in China.
Trade value for Cargill's operations are valued at US$5 billion yearly.
Cargill sells grains, oilseeds, meats and other commodities to China while exporting corn, amongst others.
