US cattle on feed down 4 percent
 

US cattle and calves on feed for slaughter market and feedlots with capacity of 1,000 or more head totalled 11.6 million head on March 1, 2007, 4 percent below from the same period last year.

Placements in feedlots in February have totalled 1.66 million, 4 percent above 2006 and 9 percent above 2005.

On the other hand, marketings of fed cattle in February summed up to 1.71 million, posting a 7 percent increase from 2006 and 5 percent above 2005. Other disappearance totalled 75,000 during February, 3 percent above 2006 but 3 percent below 2005.
