Kazakhstan grain exports could reach 1 million tonnes annually

Grain exports via Kazakhstan's Aktau seaport on the Caspian Sea could eventually reach 1 million tonnes per year, Kazakh Agriculture Minister Akhmetzhan Yesimov said at an agricultural conference in Astana on Monday (March 5).

Yesimov also said there were prospects for exporting Kazakh grain via the Ventspils port to the Baltic countries, where a grain terminal has been built using the funds of Kazakh companies.

The Aktau seaport, which is located on the Mangyshlak Peninsula on the Caspian Sea, has strategic importance for the development of the Kazakh economy since it is Kazakhstan's only international seaport.
