Nutrifeed launches Serolat Omega for piglet feed formulation
Press release
Nutrifeed now has a new spray-dried fat product, Serolat Omega within its portfolio.
Serolat Omega was developed to supply the benefits of fish oil within a dairy concentrate and in weaner pig diets. It is a delactosed sweet wheypowder with 20 percent spray-dried refined and de-odorized salmon oil.
The concept uses salmon oil as the fish oil source because of its quality and high omega-3 fatty acid level. Omega-3 fatty acids generally improve disease resistance by moderating the immune reaction caused by pathogenic challenges. This is important in modern antibiotic growth promotant-free diets, in which the piglets' immune system is subject to more stress. The modulation of the immune reaction will also direct more nutrients towards growth.
With Serolat Omega, Nutrifeed has managed to produce a dry product high in omega-3 fatty acids and protected against oxidation.
While there are benefits from omega-3 fatty acids supplied by salmon oil, the high quality whey proteins also add value to piglet feed formulations.
