Indonesian processed meat industry up 10% in 2013
In 2013, processed meat business in Indonesia grew about 10% and the market value reached about US$529 million, according to Haniwar Syarief, Executive Director of the National Meat Processors Association.
Due to supply shortages and high prices faced by processors, processed beef was stagnant, while, processed chicken meat recorded a significant growth of 20%, Haniwar said. With the change from the quota system to base price system of beef, he expects to see processed beef grow by 10% this year.
