Fancom appoints Paul Smits as managing director, Panningen

Paul Smits will be the new managing director for Fancom in Panningen effective April 1, 2012, succeeding André Bakermans.
Smits graduated in mechanical engineering and production technology from the University of Twente with a master degree
In his new position, Smits brings his years of experience and knowledge of the agricultural business. As commercial director for the PigTek group of CTB, he has been in charge of sales and marketing in Europe. Prior to that, Smits worked at Fancom for 13 years, first as project engineer, and later as marketing and innovation manager.
"I see it as a nice challenge to give further shape to Fancom's ambitious growth plan," Smits says. "I am convinced that by the use of new technology and knowledge it is possible to balance the interests of the animal and all parties involved. The integral automation systems of Fancom continue to be leading in this."
Fancom develops automation systems for the intensive animal husbandry sector, with 35 years of experience in the pig and poultry sector. Headquartered in Panningen, the Netherlands, Fancom is a subsidiary of CTB.
