Bird flu continues to spread in Vietnam

 

 

Vietnam has reported five new outbreaks of the highly pathogenic avian influenza.

 

The veterinary authority has sent Follow Up Report No. 41 dated 24 March to the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE).

 

The report covers five outbreaks starting between February 28 and March 15. They occurred in the north and in the south of the country; three were on farms and two were in village flocks. In total, 5,208 were involved, of which, 2,442 died and 2,766 were destroyed.

 

The presence of the H5N1 sub-type of the virus has been confirmed.
