China's methionine imports registered 8,250.75 tonnes in January, up over 500 tonnes from December 2008, while imports in February increased over 1,200 tonnes from January to 9,474 tonnes.
Average import price in January was US$6.14/kg, up by US$0.47/kg compared with the previous month.
Belgium (4,800 tonnes), Japan (2,047.25 tonnes) and France (1,180 tonnes) were the three largest exporters of methionine to China during January.
Average import price in February was US$5.65/kg, down US$0.49/kg compared with January.
