Dow Building Solutions offers new insulation product for agricultural market
Press release
Controlling the indoor environment of agricultural buildings is critical for ensuring energy efficiency and decreasing operating costs. In response, Dow Building Solutions (DBS) has offered a new insulation product this year designed to meet these challenges.
Styrofoam Blueguard is a termite-resistant rigid insulation, which contains Preventol HS 100 insecticide incorporated into the foam matrix, providing integral and lasting protection from the triple threat of termites tunnelling through foam, moisture and energy loss. Available in 1, 1.5 and 2-inch thickness with shiplapped edges on the long side, the product is formulated for agricultural applications such as beneath slab-on-grade applications.
According to DBS, Styrofoam Blueguard can help control the indoor environment of agricultural buildings, protect livestock, reduce animal stress and cut down on crop spoilage, as well as minimise damage to the building itself. Once installed, the product offers thermal and moisture protection, provides comfort, requires little maintenance and can be used with other DBS products or individually to provide application-specific solutions.
Besides providing good long-term R-Value (at 75ºF = 5.0 per nominal inch of thickness), the product also meets performance criteria in the ICC-ES EG-239 Evaluation Guideline for Termite-Resistant Foam Plastic, DBS said.
Because Styrofoam Blueguard contains insecticide, gloves, long sleeved shirts and long pants are required when handling it.
