Fear of bird flu in Indonesian city

The investigation is getting tighter relating to the death of 450 quails on the farm in Semper, North Jakarta, Indonesia. It is suspected that these deaths may have been due to avian flu.

Mayor Effendy Anas stated on Wednesday that he had ordered his subordinates to check the reports again at all poultry farms in the area.

Poultry breeders were also called to alert the administration if they find livestock with avian flu symptoms.

The investigation is still going on the death of the quails according to the Head of the animal husbandry and fisheries office with the North Jakarta municipality and the results are not confirmed yet.

Precautionary measures and intensifying monitoring of breeding farms will be taken in Tanjung Priok, Cilincing, Koja and Marunda.
