Strong demand for Australian dairy goats

Australian dairy goat breeders are experiencing a strong global demand for their stock as interest from Asian markets grows.

The demand comes at a time when the national herd is already down due to drought.

"I've just had a delegation from the Philippines here last week and I've got another buyer coming from Taiwan next week and in both cases there was not sufficient stock for them to inspect or purchase,¡± said Brett Gleeson, from the Dairy Goat Society of Australia. "This is the first time this has really happened but it's now at a critical stage of insufficient stock to meet the demand."
