USDA provides forecast on Brazil's corn production
Forecasts for corn production in Brazil for 2009-10 were at 51 million tonnes and trade year exports at 7.2 million tonnes due to good yields, according to a report from the USDA Foreign Agricultural Service (FAS).
FAS said corn production for 2010-11 is expected to drop slightly to 50 million tonnes and exports are expected to reach eight million tonnes.
FAS said its estimate of wheat imports in 2009-10 at 6.5 million tonnes remains unchanged. Moreover, 2010-11 wheat production is expected to remain stable with quality improvements as a result of normalised weather conditions. Therefore, 2010-11 wheat imports are anticipated to decrease slightly to 6.2 million tonnes.
