BioAktiv, a natural chalk meal, is proving its effectiveness in enhancing the digestion and immune system of poultry in French units.

The natural feed ingredient, which can be administered either through feed in powder form or in drinking water with a liquid solution, can result in healthier birds with reduced mortality rates and lower veterinary costs.

BioAktiv powder is made of chalk, magnesium sulphate and sodium chloride and is designed to resonate with the natural vibration of oxygen which is produced by a patented process, according to Bioacktiv managing director Ramona Wolf.

The process involves a large energy accumulator that generates a powerful vibrating field with the natural frequency of the oxygen atom. Highly purified chalk meal from Sohide in northern Germany is resonated for several hours, so it takes on the special homeopathic information permanently.

The liquid formula is processed in a similar way and includes a natural common salt known to improve bird digestion and magnesium sulphate.

Calcium is used to introduce the oxygen vibration to the digestive tract of birds, said Emile Borsenberger of Sarl/Eurl BES who has carried out research on French units.

The product stimulates the aerobic/beneficial bacteria and reduces the level of anaerobic/harmful bacteria in the bird's gut, improving digestion and boosting the immune system.

The additive has also been shown to improve feed conversion rates, reduce salmonella infection and requires less antibiotic treatments. It can also decrease levels of ammonia in poultry buildings because the carbon dioxide lowers the pH in droppings which inhibits ammonia development.

And as more nitrogen is retained in the litter, it is a better quality byproduct for crop growers.

BioAktiv is the result of six years of extensive research, including various on-farm trials. The product has gained registration in France and across Europe.

BioAktiv GmbH was established in 1994 at Würchwitz in the German state of Saxony-Anhalt. Its product range may be used in organic farming, and its feed additive has QS and GMP certification. The company has general agents in countries such as Austria, the Netherlands, France, Australia, New Zealand and Korea.
