EU 2005/06 grain intervention climbs 275,486 tonnes on week
Offers of 2005/06 European Union grain into intervention stores rose 275,486 tonnes on the week ended Sunday to 8.5 million tonnes, according to EU figures released Thursday (Mar 23).
Offers of corn climbed by 153,353 tonnes on the week to 3.93 million tonnes, or 46 percent of the total grain. In addition, wheat offers rose by 38,977 tonnes to 2.93 million tonnes, or 34 percent; and barley offers were up by 80,156 tonnes at 1.67 million tonnes, or 20 percent, the EU said.
Hungary's total 2005/06 cereal offers climbed 147,156 tonnes on the week to 4.33 million tonnes.
Offers this season total 1.5 million tonnes in Germany, 807,367 tonnes in Poland, 515,373 tonnes in Slovakia, 511,487 tonnes in Czech Republic and 350,982 tonnes in France. All other country totals are less than 300,000 tonnes.
Intervention stores for the 2005/06 grain crop opened Nov 1.
