USDA Projects 2004 US Turkey Exports At 206,000 MT
The U.S. Department of Agriculture projected Tuesday, U.S. exports of turkeys in 2004 would decrease by 5.9% from 2003 to 206,000 metric tons.
MAJOR EXPORTERS:
European Union, the world's largest exporter of turkeys, is expected to maintain exports in 2004 at 210,000 metric tons, the same level reported in 2003.
MAJOR IMPORTERS:
Mexico, the world's leading importer of turkeys, is estimated to increase imports in 2004 by 4.4% from 2003 to 165,000 metric tons.
In 1,000 metric tons (ready to cook equivalent). 2004 data is projected, 2003 data is preliminary and 2002 data is final. Percent changes are from the previous year.
