Brazil: IFC integrates beef jerky operations
IFC (International Food Co), in a joint venture with Vision Agro Fundo, has acquired a cattle processing unit at Nova Xavantina in Mato Grosso state and is negotiating the purchase of another plant at Inhumas in Goias and two units at Sao Paulo.
The acquisition is to increase exports to the US from an integrated production in Brazil.
IFC President Jose Barbosa Machado Neto said investments in these operations are to cost US$135 million and expects to post an increase to US$400 million to US$500 million from US$130 million in 2006.
The Nova Xavantina plant is to process 1,350 cattle per day, which will later have an additional expanding of 500 cattle per day.
Total cattle processing capacity of IFC is to reach 1,850 animals, as 500 are processed in the plant rented to Frigojales at Jales (Sao Paulo). A distribution centre is to be erected at Itupeva in Sao Paolo which will be completed on June 2007.
