Ukraine's 2006/07 grain export at 6.4 million tonnes to date

Ukraine exported to date 6.4 million tonnes of grain since the beginning of the current marketing year, the agriculture ministry reported Thursday (Mar 22).

Total grain export in the current marketing year is forecast by the ministry at 9.5 million tonnes, down from the 12 million tonnes in the previous marketing year.

The government had imposed limitations on the export of grain, fearing shortages in the country, but now the export quotas for feed grain have been scrapped and the ministry said at this time Ukraine has sufficient milling grain stocks on the domestic market.
