Russia's February beef output up 5.4%

The federal statistics service reported late Tuesday (Mar 20) that Russia produced in February 12,500 tonnes of beef, 5.4% more than in February 2011 and 6.8% more than in January this year.

Without giving output volumes in tonnages, the statistics service said beef output in January-February was 0.5% less than in January-February 2011.

Russia's pork output in February totalled 70,700 tonnes, 21.2% more than in February 2011 and 11.3% more than in January this year. Pork output in January-February was 19.5% more than in January-February 2011.
