Vietnam steps up poultry sales monitoring
The Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC) Animal Health Division is working with the market watch division to increase monitoring of poultry entering the city from other provinces, said Phan Xuan Thao, head of the city Animal Health Division.
To prevent an outbreak of bird flu they would also increase monitoring where poultry without origin certificates were often sold in the city.
Thousands of birds without origin or quarantine certificates were transported to more than 212 sites in the city for sales every day, particularly in the outer districts of 12, Binh Chanh, Tan Binh, Go Vap and Hoc Mon, according to a division report.
Most of the birds that needed more monitoring came from Southwest and Southeast regions and outlying districts of Binh Chanh, Hoc Mon and Cu Chi.The division has fined people trading poultry without certificates.
