BASF eyes more agriculture and food processing sales

 

 

The local unit of BASF Corp., the world’s top chemical company, is targeting double-digit sales growth this year, expecting higher demand for chemicals for agricultural and food.

 

The German chemical company recorded EUR50.7 billion in sales last year.

 

Claro C. Arriola, Jr., senior business manager of BASF Philippines, were expecting sales target for the yea more than P3HP.5 billion in sales.

 

BASF incorporated its Philippine subsidiary in 1963, for the sale of adhesives and colorants. Since then, BASF Philippines has expanded products to about 8,000 divided into more than 13 business units, which include construction, animal care, personal care, and plastics, Arriola said.

 

BASF Philippines targets selling more pesticides and fertilisers for rice, corn and vegetable plantations, he said, adding that the company has provided chemicals to large-scale agriculture firms Del Monte Pacific, Ltd. and Dole Philippines, Inc.

 

BASF Philippines has also supplied chemicals and other products to the country’s leading food manufacturers, like San Miguel Corp. and Universal Robina Corp. Personal care firm Splash Corp. is also a client.

 

Globally, BASF caters to the needs of various industries in producing chemicals, plastics, performance products, functional solutions, agricultural solutions and oil and gas. It recorded EUR50.7 billion in sales last year.
