Malaysia's TDM Bhd plans to sell poultry unit

State-owned investment firm TDM Bhd in Terengganu, Malaysia, plans to sell its loss-making poultry unit and focus on other business areas, the company management said.

The poultry segment is pulling down the company and no longer fits TDM, said chief executive officer Badrul Hisham Mahari.

TDM's poultry unit lost MYR1-2 million last year due to lack of expertise and inability to compete, Badrul said.

The integrated poultry farm has a production capacity of 300,000 to 500,000 chickens per month, with 150 employees and 100 contract farmers.
