Prices of Key Vitamin Products Mostly Higher in China (March 22, 2004)

- Vitamin A500
Of late, prices of vitamin A500 rose substantially in China. Current quotations for imported vitamin A500 mostly range between RMB110-113/kg, up by RMB6-8/kg versus prices two weeks ago, while general transacted prices average between RMB108-110/kg, registering an increase of RMB5-7/kg
With the recovery in demand for vitamin A500 and soaring prices of feed ingredients in China, overseas producers have recently raised the prices of vitamin A500.
- Vitamin B1
Recently, prices of vitamin B1 in China went up slightly. Existing quotations for China's locally produced vitamin B1 hover around RMB145/kg, up by RMB 5-10/kg compared with prices two weeks ago, while general transacted prices hover around RMB138/kg, showing a rise of RMB3/kg.
Buoyed by the increasing demand for feed products and rising prices of feed ingredients, prices of vitamin B1 registered a marginal increase in China.
- Vitamin B2
In recent days, prices of vitamin B2 remain relatively stable in China. Current quotations for China's locally produced vitamin B2 (80%) range between RMB118-120/kg, while general transacted prices hover around RMB115/kg, up by RMB2/kg compared with prices two weeks ago.
- Vitamin B6
Prices of vitamin B6 remain largely stable in China recently. Current quotations for China's locally produced vitamin B6 range between RMB130-135/kg, while general transacted prices stay unchanged at RMB130/kg.
Existing quotations for imported vitamin B6 hover around RMB155/kg, while general transacted prices mostly stand at RMB150/kg, showing a marginal increase compared with prices in recent past.
- Vitamin B12
Recently, prices of vitamin B12 in China remain relatively stable. Current quotations for China's locally produced vitamin B12 stay between RMB200-210/kg, while general transacted prices remain unchanged at RMB200/kg.
It is reported that some producers' prices to resellers hover around RMB190/kg.
- Vitamin D3
Of late, prices of vitamin D3 rose marginally in China. Current quotations for imported vitamin D3 mostly stand at RMB105/kg, up by RMB3/kg versus prices two weeks ago, while general transacted prices hover around RMB103/kg, showing an increase of RMB3-4/kg.
Existing quotations for China's locally produced vitamin D3 mostly stand at RMB75/kg, while general transacted prices hover around RMB72/kg.
Although the supplementation of vitamin D3 in feed is relatively low, recent recovery in livestock industry in China has boosted the market demand for this vitamin.
- Vitamin E
Prices of vitamin E in China went up slightly of late. Existing quotations for recently imported vitamin E mostly stand at RMB50/kg, while general transacted prices hover around RMB48/kg, up by RMB2-3/kg versus prices in recent past.
Meanwhile, quotations for China's locally produced vitamin E generally stand at RMB46/kg, giving it a price advantage over imported product.
- Biotin
Of late, prices of biotin in China surged sharply. Biotin imported from Japan's Sumitomo Chemical generally range between RMB160-170/kg, while general transacted prices hover around RMB160/kg, up by RMB10/kg versus prices two weeks ago.
Roche's biotin is currently quoted at between RMB170-180/kg, while general transacted prices hover around RMB170/kg.
Prices of biotin in China are boosted by the gradual recovery in the livestock industry and increasing demand for the vitamin from the feed industry.
- Pantothenic Acid
Pantothenic acid imported from Japan is currently quoted at RMB85/kg and mostly transacted at around RMB80/kg.
- Nicotinic Acid
Current quotations for imported nicotinic acid hover around MB60/kg. Meanwhile, China's locally produced nicotinic acid mostly quoted at RMB55/kg, and generally transacted at around RMB51/kg.
- Folic Acid
Existing quotations for folic acid mostly stand at RMB210/kg, and generally transacted at a price marginally lower than the quotation.
