Russia's 2012 grain crop estimate may hit about 95 million tonnes
In 2012, Russia's general grain yield amounts to almost 95 million tonnes, reported the analytical centre of CJSC "Rusagrotrans".
The Central and Volga Federal Districts may show the possible growth of the general production volumes. Due to the losses of winter crops sowings, despite the growth of sowing areas in the North Caucasian Federal District, the company forecasts the decrease of grain harvest results, the Southern District - a slight increase. Due to low soil moisture reserves in the Urals and Siberian Districts, there are forecasted a significant reduction in grain production.
It is noted that, according to data of the Federal State Statistics Service, the carry-over stocks of grains in Russia as of February 1, 2012, totalled 32.3 million tonnes at agricultural enterprises, elevators and grain processors, including 19.45 million tonnes of wheat. The results show the increase of 1.8 million tonnes compared to the last year result, but down 6.3 million tonnes compared to 2009/10 MY.
